Lieutenant Colonel Muruganantham is a product of Sainik School
Amaravathi Nagar. After successfully clearing UPSC Examination and SSB
Interview at the age of 17, he joined the National Defence Academy,
Pune in July 1987. Thereafter did his training in Indian Military Academy,
Dehradun in the year 1990, and later Commissioned into Indian Army on
08 June 1991 as a 2nd Lieutenant, at the age of 20 plus.
He did the basic degree in science in the year 1990 (BSc graduate
from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi) and completed Post
Graduation in Weapon Technology from Pune University in 2003. An
alumni of the prestigious Defence Services Staff College Wellington, the
officer acquired his subsequent PG Degree in 2007 ; did his M Phil from
Panjab University in the year 2012. At present the officer is pursuing his
doctorate in the field of Defence and Strategic Studies.
He is also an Alumnus of Indian Institute of Management,
The officer has served our nation in the Northern & Western
Borders where he was deployed against Pakistani and Chinese Forces .
Saw action in Kashmir Valley in the districts of Kupwara, Baramulla and
Anantanag. He was at the Siachen Glacier, which is considered as the
highest battlefield of the world, for 100 days and commanded an Artillery
Regiment in Chushul in Ladhak Sector. He has also served in the Thar
Deserts of Rajasthan for three years. After his retirement from the Army
in 2012, he joined as a Manager in a Maharatna PSU , Coal India Limited.
Prior to venturing in the field of coaching and mentoring, he was working
with a Chennai based Indian MNC, MRF Ltd; the place of work was
North Chennai, which is known for violent labour movement and crime.
A keen sportsman, he had played Hockey and Basketball upto
Command level , and plays golf during his leisure. He began his leisure
flying activities at the age of 38 years, and holds a SOLO certification in
MicroLight Aircraft Flying. His hobbies include travelling and photography.
